Laptop Computer Policy

Students may bring in and use laptop computers, netbooks, ipads, and other devices with a screen of at least 5” x 7” at the school following the guidelines and cautions below:

  • Students will assume full risk for the safety of the computers during and after the school day. The school in no way assumes any risk for the computers brought in by students.
  • Teachers determine whether laptops will be appropriate for all or part of their classes. Use of laptops is at the teacher’s discretion.
  • Students may only use approved programs or sites. Such programs are normally limited to Word, Excel, or Power Point. Other programs and sites may be used only with specific permission of the teacher or the administration.
  • Movies, video games, digital music, or other entertainment programs are strictly forbidden and may result in loss of computer privileges or confiscation of the computer until a meeting with the administration.
  • Any inappropriate or illicit use of laptops on school property will be subject to confiscation and other punishments in accordance with guidelines for student behavior as stipulated in the handbook.
  • All social networking, including but not limited to Facebook, is prohibited during the academic school day.
  • Students may not at any time use another student’s laptop.
  • All terms and conditions found in the BBS student computer policy contract are applicable.
