BIBLE
All school subjects are built on the foundation of the true and inspired Word of God. The Bible is taught to students at the earliest age and continues through every grade in a way that enables students to build biblical knowledge and apply spiritual truths to everyday living. Salvation, striving for holiness, and knowledge of God and what He expects from believers are taught each year to assist students in developing a spirit controlled life and a servant’s heart. The focus of memorization, application, and integration of God’s Word into everyday life enables the student to face the trials and temptations of the world.
Biblical Curriculum Goals
In accordance with Bible Baptist School’s Philosophy of Biblical instruction, the students will be encouraged to:
- Hear, understand, and have an opportunity to respond to the gospel. (Romans 10:1-13)
- Establish and build a personal relationship with God based on God’s love for the student. The students will learn that this relationship must be centered in Christ, empowered by the spirit, and lived out by faith. (Colossians 1:9-18)
- Live the principles taught in the Bible, understanding that all thoughts, words, and deeds must be submitted to the Spirit's leading. This is done in order that the believer would learn to glorify God and enjoy him forever. (I Corinthians 10:31)
- Included in this process would be encouragement for:
- a. Regular prayer (I Thessalonians 5:17)
- b. Study of God’s word (Luke 10:39)
- c. Fellowship with other believers (Proverbs 27:17)
- d. Corporate worship of God (Psalm 150:1-6)
- e. Ministering to others (Colossians 1:24-29)
- Handle and use the Bible as much as is developmentally appropriate. (Joshua 1:7-9)
- Learn appropriate use of Bible study tools.
- See all things in life as God sees them, viewing every activity as sacred. (Colossians 3:17)
- View themselves as unique beings, created in the image of God. (Psalm 139)
- Commit portions of scripture to memory and reflect on their meaning and application. (Psalm 119:9-11)
Life of Christ
The students will study the life of Christ as presented in the four gospels. The study will begin with a brief survey of the Old Testament, which will establish the foundation for the coming of a Messiah. Select passages from the gospels and from the Old Testament will be examined to establish a clear understanding of the person and purpose of Jesus.
- Prerequisite: None
- Credit: 1.00
- Grade Level: 9th
New Testament Survey
The students will study the progress and development of the early church from Christ’s ascension to the death of John. Using the book of Acts as the basis, the learner will seek to connect what the early believers did with what they are doing in their own lives.
- Prerequisite: None
- Credit: 0.5
- Grade Level: 10th
Church History
The students will analyze the development of the Christian church from the Ascension of Christ to the church today and beyond. Within the friendly confines of each unit, the students will be challenged to learn their heritage as Christians, and make applications to the church today.
- Prerequisite: None

World Views
The students will be stretched in their minds and in their spirits as they wrestle with the great questions of life. This course combines the best elements of a philosophy class with those of an apologetics class. Throughout the course, students will analyze various worldviews and contrast them with the Biblical worldview. A strong defense will be made for the biblical worldview, allowing long times for questions, debate, and free expression of opinions.
- Prerequisite: None
- Credit: 0.5
- Grade Level: 11th/12th
Principles of Bible Study
The students will learn to study the Bible inductively through the OIA method (Observation, Interpretation, Application). They will begin with a bird’s eye view of the Bible (seeing the big picture) and work their way to a mechanics view (seeing the smaller details up close). By the course's completion, the student will be equipped to write their own commentary on a passage of scripture with solid knowledge and accuracy.
- Prerequisite: None
- Credit: 0.5
- Grade Level: 11th/12th
Advanced Doctrine
The students will study all of the major doctrinal areas in a “think tank” setting. Doing self-study research and working together in groups, the students will explore each doctrine to arrive at conclusions themselves. Throughout the course, the students will wrestle with difficult areas of doctrine.
- Prerequisite: None
- Credit: 0.5
- Grade Level: 11th/12th
Personal Sanctification
The students will be encouraged to challenge themselves in their spiritual growth. In each unit, the students will apply themselves to critical thinking with provocative self-evaluation questions. They will analyze their spiritual growth in light of God’s Word and seek out solutions to help them grow further.
