Is the school accredited?
Yes, BBS is fully accredited in grades K-12 by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International.
Are the teachers certified?
Yes, all full-time teachers are required to be certified by ACSI. Most teachers also hold certification in the state where they did their undergraduate studies. Presently 33% have Master's degrees.
Is there bus transportation?
The following school districts provide busing at no cost to BBS: Central Dauphin, Cumberland Valley, East Pennsboro, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Northern York, South Middleton, Steelton, Susquehanna, Susquenita, and West Shore.
What sports are offered?
The school is a member of the Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association. BBS competes in volleyball, golf, cross country, soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, and track on the senior high level. The middle school participates in soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track.
What type of textbooks do you use?
Both Christian and secular textbooks are used. All textbooks must be approved by the Administration and selected faculty members.
What are the average class sizes?
The average class size in the elementary division is twenty-one. Class size for core courses at the middle and high schools average twenty-three. Most elective courses average between five and fifteen students.
What is the dress code?
The school has a standardized dress code. Clothes must meet the schools standard in style, color, and fabric. All students may wear sneakers. Exceptions to the dress code are made for certain field trips and other school activities.
Does the school encourage parental involvement?
Parents are welcome at the school at all times. We encourage parents to be involved in the Parent-Teacher Fellowship, "Helping Hands" program, moms' prayer group, field trips, class parties, lunch supervision, and many other activities.
What is the high school academic program like?
Students are placed in either the college preparatory or honors program. Seven advanced placement courses are available. Select students may also enroll at two local colleges during their senior year.
Does the school participate in extra-curricular academic competitions?
Yes, both on the elementary and secondary levels, our students participate in interscholastic competitions, such as: Spelling Bee, Math Olympics, Quiz Bowl, Science Fair, and Creative Writing & Speech.
Is there a Fine Arts Department?
Music and art are taught to students at all levels. The school currently has high school, middle school, and elementary choirs as well as high school/middle school and elementary bands. Art students participate in a number of local and state-wide competitions during the year. BBS annually performs a middle school play in the fall and a high school play in the winter.
Is there a lunch program?
Yes, the school has a hot lunch program. We daily offer hot platters and many a la carte items.
How well do the students do on national standardized tests?
Students have regularly been named National Merit Commended Scholars, semi-finalist, and finalist winners. The average College Board scores are over 100 points greater than the national and state averages. The elementary division Standard Achievement Test scores are in the 83rd percentile nationally in reading and mathematics.
